How much does it cost to rent a wheel?

Our pricing is simple -

  • $60 for a long weekend (4 day booking)
  • $80 for one week rental (7 days). Book as many weeks as you like.
  • Book for 4 weeks, and get your 4th week for FREE! Save $80

Each rental includes

  • 1 x Nidec Shimpo Whisper-T pottery wheel
  • 1 x Nidec Shimpo adjustable potters stool
  • 1 x hardwood bat
  • 1 x chamois and cleaning sponge.

All our pricing includes GST and stripe transaction fees

To ensure our wheels are looked after, we also require a NZ$300 security bond. This is simply a pre-authorization that takes place on your credit card via Stripe at time of rental. This means that a NZ$300 hold is placed onto your credit card for the length of your rental. This is released once the items are returned as outlinned in our terms and conditions. If you would prefer to transfer the funds into our account rather than use Stripe and your credit card, simple contact us directly at [email protected]

How long can I rent the pottery wheel for?

As long as you like :). Minimum rental is a four day long weekend rental. After that, you can book in weekly increments Book for as many weeks as you like.

Can I extend my booking?

If you are keen to rent the pottery wheel for longer, please get in touch with us via email [email protected] and we will look at availability.

What happens if I damage the wheel?

This is outlined fully in the terms and conditions. But in summary, The Renter of the Equipment from potter&dabble, is fully responsible, for any loss, theft or damage (including accidental) that occurs whilst they have possession of the Equipment. This responsibility occurs from the time they have signed the rental form on pickup/delivery to when the pottery wheel is returned/picked up and signed for by a team member at potter&dabble.

Do I need to clean the pottery wheel during the rental period?

Yes please 😊

The Pottery Wheel must be cleaned thoroughly during and after each use, and returned clean. This is outlined in detail in our terms and conditions, and a handy cleaning info sheet will be provided at time of rental.

Do I need any pottery experience to rent a wheel?

Yes! We ask that you have either completed or in the process of completing a beginner’s course using a pottery wheel. There are some amazing classes available throughout the Auckland area. If you are a total beginner and are desperate to rent a wheel, please get in touch at [email protected]. We are able to offer a one-off introduction one-on-one session in our studio for $80, based in Dairy Flat. Bookings essential.

Can I rent more than one wheel?

Of course you can. Its rather fun including the entire household.

If you would like to rent a few wheels for an event, please get in touch. We can assist with delivery, setup, packdown, cleaning. We also have a range of clays and tools available.

Can my children use the wheel?

Our pottery wheels are rented out only to adults that have completed or are in the process of completely a beginners pottery course. You are fully responsibility if you decide to teach your children on the pottery wheel. Any damages (including accidental) are the full responsibility of the renter as outlined in our terms and conditions.

What are your opening hours

Click and collect is by appointment only. Our set hours are:

Monday 9.30am - 2pm

Tuesday 12pm - 2pm ... sorry have pottery class Tuesday am :)

Wednesday 9.30am - 2pm

Thursday 9.30am - 2pm

Friday 9.30am - 2pm and 4pm - 8pm

Saturday 10am - 1pm

How does delivery work?

Potter&dabble is based in Dairy Flat, Auckland. You are more than welcome to come and pick up your rental. The wheel must be carried by two people. We can provide one person at our end, please ensure you are able to provide either yourself or someone else to help lift the wheel. The wheel must be secured in your car using tie downs straps. Please view full terms and conditions to understand about your obligations during transport and looking after the wheel.

We are also more than happy to deliver the pottery wheel and stool to your property, and also pick up the equipment after the rental period is finished. You can add this into the checkout when booking a wheel if your suburb is listed, or simply place a note in the booking and we will be in touch to quote your delivery.

NB: We are based in Dairy Flat, so set pricing has been worked out from our location in Dairy Flat.
